But i always felt even then that there was something missing from the flavour of Malkavians in the source VTM material reflected in the VTES game. So much so that after a few games players in my group were teased if they didn't move beyond what was seen as the obvious first (read beginners) choice. It was so OP, that it became almost cheesy to play Malks as "high stealth/high bleed". Remember the TCCG Jyhad/VTES? Dominate, coupled with Obfuscate always felt overpowered when i first started playing Jyhad/VTES way back when. Mainly though, doesn't it make more sense that a clan about broken minds that fit no mould should have a discipline that does likewise?ĭementation answers that with flavour in a way Dominate never did.Ģ. It could be said that Presence is the Toreadors, Dominate the Ventrues, and Potence the Brujahs. Malkavians deserve a signature discipline, just like other distinctive clans have e.g. This leaves Malkavians feeling creatively a little under-served, which is undeserved! *boom boom*Ģ. Obfuscate is the only discipline shared with one other clan and its already considered the signature discipline of the Nosferatu, and with good reason. Auspex is shared between Malkavians, Toreador and Tremere.

Out of the original Camarilla clans, Dominate is shared between Malkavians, Ventrue and Tremere. The problem is that if too many clans share a discipline it ceases to be discipline associated with any clan specifically. And for a clan with such a distinctive character they really should have one. With the traditional Malkavian disciplines (Auspex/Dominate/Obfuscate), there is no tangible signature discipline. There's a few reasons why Dominate/Malkavians never really felt right to me.ġ. I actually think that Malkavians being given Dominate as a clan discipline is the only flawed design decisions of the original VTM. I'd just like to say that i am really glad that Dementation is the Malkavian signature discipline in Bloodlines2. I was going to create a separate thread for this but this thread seems like a better fit for discussion.
